24 Hour Garage Doors covers Florence daily. Springs, openers, cables and doors off their tracks, same day where we can.
Tell us what the door is doing. No charge to come out, and nothing to pay if you decide against it.
A snapped cable or seized roller is the fault we're called out for most often in Omaha, and it's the one homeowners least expect. Nothing wears visibly, nothing sounds wrong, and then one morning the door won't lift and the car is shut in. Around Florence and Dundee we see it concentrated in mid-century ranches and large Elkhorn new-builds, where minus-ten mornings and hailstorms in the same year.
The spring cancels the weight, but it's the two cables that actually carry it. Each runs from a bracket at the bottom corner of the door, up the side, and winds onto a grooved drum at the end of the torsion shaft. Lose one and that corner of the door falls, jams in its track, and takes the door off the rails. Which is why a snapped cable and a derailed door are so often the same phone call.
Anywhere in Omaha or Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Elkhorn the visit and the written estimate cost nothing. If you decide not to go ahead after seeing the estimate, you owe nothing.
A cable about to fail tells you first. Look along its length for broken strands standing out from the lay of the wire, and check whether one side has gone slack while the other is taut. If the door has begun to sit crooked, the cable has already slipped a drum.
If any of that matches, a technician can diagnose it on site in about ten minutes. We don't guess at it down the phone, and we don't charge to look.
Lift cables are galvanized steel and they last as long as the surface stays intact. The bottom bracket end sits closest to the damp floor, so that's where they rust, and that's where they fray first. Rollers are a shorter story: builder-grade plastic rollers with no bearings are done in five to seven years.
Cables go back in pairs. They have carried identical loads for identical years, and the drums have to be set equally or the door will sit permanently a little out of square. While it's apart, sealed-bearing nylon rollers are the upgrade actually worth paying for. Quieter, far less drag on the track, and several times the life of the plastic ones.
A roller that has stopped turning doesn't stay a roller problem. It drags, and what it drags is the track, so a small part left too long becomes a track section and a realignment. If the van is already there for a cable, the rollers cost parts and almost no extra labor.
People put this off, and it is worth being straight about where that goes. None of the following is unusual. It's the ordinary sequence, and we see it in Omaha every week.
The visit and the written estimate are free, so finding out where you stand costs you nothing at all. That is the whole reason to call early rather than late.
Two weeks a year account for a disproportionate share of what we do in Douglas County. They're the first hard cold and the first serious storm, and both work the same way. They do not create a fault, they finish one that was already there.
A spring at eighty per cent of its cycle life survives a mild morning and fails on a cold one. A cable with three broken strands holds until the day the door is asked to move against a frozen bottom seal. The weather is the trigger, not the cause.
That is why a five-minute inspection in the fall is worth more than any product you can buy. Rust on the coils, frayed strands near the bottom brackets, and a door that will not stay put at waist height are the three things worth looking for.
If any of the three is there, it's far better dealt with on your schedule than on the morning the car is trapped behind it.

The call itself takes about three minutes. We ask what the door is doing, what it sounds like, whether anything is visibly out of place, and roughly how old it's. That is usually enough to know which parts the van needs.
Loading the van from that description is the part that decides whether your garage door cable and roller repair is a one-visit job or a two-visit job. It's also the part a national dispatch number can't do, because it doesn't know who is coming.
On site the technician confirms the diagnosis on the door. Sometimes the phone description was wrong. A 'broken opener' is quite often a broken spring. And it's better to find that out with the parts already in the van.
The estimate is written before work starts. The repair itself is usually under two hours, and the door is tested and balanced before anyone leaves.
The bottom bracket is the one fitting on a garage door that carries the entire spring load, and on most doors there's a warning label on it saying so. Undo that bolt with the counterbalance still wound and the whole system releases at once, through whatever is in the way. This isn't a cautious-and-you-will-be-fine job.
Leave it where it's and unplug the opener if the temptation is strong. Almost every large garage door repair we quote started as a small one that somebody kept operating for another two days.
Need the car? Pull the red cord with the door all the way down, never partway, and lift steadily. If it won't move easily with two hands, it isn't going to, and forcing it's how people are injured.
The difference between a job finished today and a job finished on Thursday is almost always whether the right part was on the van when it arrived. So the van is loaded for what Omaha actually breaks rather than for a national average.
Springs in the common sizes, lift cables, drums, rollers, hinges, brackets, opener gear kits, remotes, safety sensors and weather seal all travel with the technician. Panels and complete doors are ordered, and we tell you that at the estimate rather than on the day.
It's also why the description you give on the phone matters. Tell us what the door is doing, what it sounds like, whether it's a single or a double and roughly how old it's, and the van leaves already carrying the answer.
Most of what shortens a door's life in Omaha is preventable, and none of it takes long.
Twice a year, put a lithium or silicone garage door lubricant on the hinges, the roller stems and the spring coils. Not WD-40, which is a solvent and strips what's already there, and not grease on the track, which collects grit and makes it worse.
Once a year, test the balance. Close the door, pull the release cord, and lift it by hand to waist height. A correctly balanced door stays where you put it. If it drops or climbs, the spring is out and the opener is carrying weight it shouldn't be.
Every few months, test the safety reversal. Lay something solid flat under the door and close it. It should touch, stop and go back up.
Garage door mechanisms are far more alike than the badges suggest, and the parts that fail are common across brands. These are the ones we see most in Omaha.
| Brand | Notes |
|---|---|
| Genie | Screw-drive and belt-drive heads. Intellicode remotes and carriage assemblies are the usual failure points, and both are parts rather than a reason to change the opener. |
| Amarr | Sections and hardware are widely available and the tracking is standard, which keeps repair costs sensible. |
| Chamberlain myQ | Wi-Fi hubs and the app side fail more often than the mechanics do. Usually a re-pair rather than a replacement. |
| Clopay | The most common door brand we work on. Panels, hinges and struts are orderable individually, so one damaged section doesn't mean a whole door. |
| Sommer / Marantec | Less common here, direct-drive heads, and the parts have to be ordered. So we confirm the model before the van is loaded. |
| Craftsman | Built on Chamberlain internals for most of their production run, so the gear kits and boards are shared and readily available. |
Not listed isn't a problem. Residential doors are overwhelmingly standard hardware, and the handful that aren't are identified from the model number in about ten seconds on the phone.

There's no call center between you and the technician. The number on this page reaches somebody who can book the van, and the man who turns up is the one who quoted the work.
That matters more than it sounds. The national dispatch model sells your details on to whoever bids for them, which is why nobody on that line can tell you who is coming, when, or what they'll find.
We work Omaha and the towns around it - Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Elkhorn. Every day. It's a small enough area that doing the job properly is the only way to keep working in it.
Everywhere in Omaha, plus Bellevue, Papillion, La Vista, Elkhorn. Same rates across the whole area - there is no difference wherever you're inside it, and nothing charged for coming out.
Not on the list? Call anyway. The radius is about drive time rather than boundaries, and plenty of Douglas County falls inside it without having a line on this page.
Yes. Card, and everything is documented in writing. Nothing is cash-only and nothing is agreed on the doorstep without it in writing.
If a spring or cable has failed, no. Leave it down and don't force it. The counterbalance holds a great deal of stored energy and it can let go without warning.
Most garage door cable and roller repair jobs are finished within the same visit, typically under two hours.

Yes - LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, Craftsman, Clopay, Amarr, Wayne Dalton and the rest. The mechanisms are common across brands and we carry parts for all of them.
Usually, yes. We hold same-day slots for Omaha and the surrounding towns, and a door stuck open or a car shut in goes to the front of the list.
There's no pressure attached to the call. Plenty of people ring to find out whether something is urgent, get told it isn't, and book for next week. That is a perfectly good outcome and it costs nothing.
If it's urgent. A door standing open, or a car shut in. Say so and it moves to the front of the list. Omaha, Douglas County and the towns around it.
